Peddler’s Post attends the “Summer Sizzlin” event hosted by the City of Inverness, Fl

Thursday May 29th 44 small to medium local businesses gathered to share some love with the little people in the community to kick off their 2025 summer vacation! There were many options presented to get the little ones engaged in activities and in the community during this coming summer break. Some of the options presented were, Vacation Bible School, Summer Camps, Gymnastics & Dance, Soccer, Football, Cheer just to name a few.

While some vendors brought activities for the kids to participate in during the summer. Others brought some instant gratification for the kids to enjoy right there under the shelter of the Depot Pavillion. There was face painting, free ice-cream, Balloon animals, fun music and even a foam party! The joy and laughter of childhood filled the Depot corridors with life and laughter.

Peddler’s Post brought out the “Penny Plinko” game to play with the community! In true Peddler’s Post fashion, we brought fun for both the young and the young at heart! The kids played for an opportunity to win fun trinkets like water guns, water whistles, punch balloons, bouncy balls and even dinosaur eggs to hatch their very own dinosaurs! We gave away over 250 toys, and in return we were graced with cheeky, sometimes snaggletooth, smiles that melted our hearts.

The young at heart played “Penny Plinko” for a chance to win one of three Gift Packages! The first-place gift package included a $50 gift card to Winn Dixie, Impulsivity, a phycological thriller by local author Leland Shipp and a lovely Peddler’s Post Hat. The Second-place gift package included a $25 gift card to Winn Dixie, Big Foot and the Bentley, a fun fiction book about the elusive Big Foot by local author M.L. Scholl and a lovely Peddler’s Post hat. Finally, our third-place gift package included a $15 gift card to Winn Dixie, Spirits of Florida’s Nature Coast, an anthology written by members of the Citrus Writers of Florida group!

It is safe to say, fun was had by all who attended! A special shout out to local author Leland Shipp and our special friend “Little” for lending a helping hand and helping us manage the chaos! Events like this remind us that it is the little things in life that make the most impact! We can’t wait to engage with the community next time and share the spirit of giving all the while promoting some of the best small to medium businesses in central Florida!
